WHEN GOD BRINGS YOU FULL CIRCLE

Devotion : Day Three
Psalm 139:13-18
13 For You formed my inward parts; You [f]covered me in my mother’s womb. 14 I will praise You, for [g]I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well. 15 My [h]frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. 16 Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, The days fashioned for me, When as yet there were none of them. 17 How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! 18 If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand; When I awake, I am still with You.
God’s Word works deeply within us, humbling our hearts as we recognize where we truly come from. Our origin goes beyond even the formation of our physical bodies. Before we were ever born, God knew us completely.
This portion of Psalm 139 reminds us that God carefully formed every part of us in our mother’s womb. We are fearfully and wonderfully made—created with purpose, care, and intention. Nothing about us was hidden from Him. Even before our bodies were fully formed, God saw us and knew us.
This understanding changes the posture of our prayers. We begin to see ourselves through God’s eyes and realize just how deeply He knows and loves us. More importantly, we understand that God already had a plan for our lives before we were born. Every day of our lives was fashioned by Him and written in His book before any of those days came to be (Psalm 139:16).
That is how important you are to Him. That is how aware He is of everything you are facing. You are not forgotten, overlooked, or accidental. You have been fearfully and wonderfully made by a God whose thoughts toward you are precious and countless.
Dutch Sheets writes, “Our Designer dreamed unique dreams for each of us before we were even born. He skillfully wove them into our DNA, along with the gifts and abilities to achieve those dreams.” His book “Dream: Discovering God’s Purpose for Your Life” is a great read and resource as you reflect and dive into what God’s special purpose could be for you. Don’t let the cares and confusion of the day dominate. Make time to reflect and bring beauty and God given purpose into your everyday rhythm. Everything about you is skillfully and lovingly woven together with purpose.
Today, reflect on Psalm 139:16 and consider the incredible truth that God knew your life before you were even formed. Every one of your days was already seen by Him and written in His book with purpose and intention.
As you journal and pray, think about these questions:
What might God have planned for my life if He designed my days before I was born?
What dream or purpose could He desire to fulfill through me on the earth?
How different would my life look if I focused more on God’s plan than on my own ambitions?
What has God invited me to partner in with Him to accomplish His purpose on earth? How can I honor His dream in me for His purpose?
What could happen if everything written in His book for my life came to pass?
What gifts, calling, or purpose has He placed within me that I have not fully discovered yet?
Rather than living with fear of falling short, allow these thoughts to draw you closer to God’s heart. He is not calling you into pressure or performance, but into trust, obedience, and relationship with Him. The God who planned your life is also the One who will guide and strengthen you to walk in His purpose each day.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, Thank you for the incredible story you have written for our lives before we were even formed. You have weaved us together in ways unimaginable. I pray for those reading this today that they would find you in the deepest chambers of their hearts with this knowledge. Open their eyes to that purpose, dream. and calling You have placed within their hearts. That they would seek after what it is You had in mind and would choose to partner with you and begin to walk towards that dream you weaved into our personalities, gifts and abilities. That they would find great peace, courage and confidence as they pursue their passions and confidence that defies obstacles before them or doubts within. Help us to seek Your will above our own and to walk faithfully the path You have prepared for each one of us. That our lives would bring glory to You and fulfill the purpose for which You created us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
